Conversion and extension of a historic building in the old town

A ladies' fashion store in a narrow house in Zurich's old town has three sales floors, which were only connected by a single elevator for customers. Liaising closely with the department for historic building preservation, Ramseier & Associates built an additional story in the courtyard that made space for a generous staircase. The façade on Rennweg underwent conservative renovation, while modern insulated glazing complemented the intricate wooden windows of 1931. The color of the building was refreshed and slightly modified to integrate it smoothly into the old city surroundings.

Completed in 2008
